Description and Facilities

Okavango Kopano Mokoro Community Trust (OKMCT)

Maun,

All Mokoro's are maintained and registered to ensure the safety of the passengers and our settlements have freelance polers to guide tourists through the meandering Delta in their Mokoro's (dug-out canoes or traditional boats which are made locally from fibreglass as an effort to conserve the large trees in the area). These Mokoro's can carry two passengers including the poler; your guide stands at the back & poles along while you sit and relax looking for tiny creatures in papyrus and lily's We can also provide another Mokoro to carry tourists camping luggage.

Covering the Delta can take many days depending on how far the tourists want to go.and this vast area is home for many wildlife animals including elephants, giraffes, hippo, antelope and much more.

We also offer camping trip to traditional campsites characterised by true African wilderness but guests who wish to experience camping are advised to bring their own tents and camping equipment i.e. tables, bedrolls, pots, plates, knives & forks etc. This includes mosquito repellent, cameras, medication etc. Guests will also be required to carry their own food supplies, including water & drinks.

Guided walks as well as boat hiring can be arranged.

All the tourists entering the area of operation are under the watchful eye and are treated to the knowledge of local guides and polers who share their local heritage of the exciting Okavango wilderness adventures.
